EAL Quality Mark Gold Award
I am delighted to inform you that we have been awarded the EAL Mark Gold. This is in recognition for the work we do working with and supporting pupils with English as an Additional Language. Over the last year we have been collating examples of the work we do and earlier this week we received a visit from an assessor who looked through all the evidence we provided as well as speaking with and interviewing children, observing groups and talking with staff about the work and interventions we use. She also looked at the school environment including displays.
I would like to especially thank Miss Hammond who is our EAL coordinator. She does an excellent job supporting children and staff with EAL in our school and the assessor was highly impressed with the work she has done. Also, Mrs Vance and Miss Bland for their work with linking in Geography and Global Dimensions. Thank you to them and all the staff in our school for their continued hard work.
To achieve the EAL Mark is a great achievement in itself, but to be awarded the Gold award is superb. Add this to the other awards we have gained in the last year or so, (including ICT mark, Science Quality Mark, Governance Award and Arts Mark Gold), and it highlights the excellent work we are doing and the committed and dedicated staff we have in our school.
