Important information from 1st August 2026 - please read.

From September 2026, all children from households receiving Universal Credit will be entitled to receive a free school meal regardless of household income as long as you apply.

There are now two categories of Free School Meals:

Targeted FSM – for families receiving Universal Credit with household earnings below £7,400 per year.   These pupils will continue to attract additional funding and support for schools.

Expanded FSM – for families receiving Universal Credit with earnings above £7,400 per year.  These pupils will be entitled to free meals only.

From 1st August 2026 all parents should apply using the online form via the website here  www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals.

The following groups of children with no recourse to public funds are eligible for free school meals.

To qualify, gross household income must be no more than £22,700 a year for families with one child, or £26,300 a year for families with two or more children.
