Year 1 Autumn 1- Hey you!

The children will learn about the difference between pulse and rhythm. They will hear the song ‘Hey you!’ and use it to play, improvise and compose. They will listen to and appraise other old-school        hip-hop tunes.

Year 1 Autumn 2- Rhythm in the Way We Walk and the Banana Rap

The children will learn hear the two songs. They will listen to and appraise other styles of music and continue to embed the interrelated dimensions of music through games and movement.

Year 2 Autumn 1-Hands, Feet, Heart

The learning is focussed around the song ‘Hands, Feet, Heart’. Games, pulse, rhythm and playing are all linked. As well as learning to play, improvise and compose with this song, children listen to and appraise different styles of African music.

Year 2 Autumn 2- Ho, Ho, Ho

The learning is focussed around the song ‘Ho, Ho, Ho’- a Christmas song. The children will listen to and appraise other styles of music and continue to embed the interrelated dimensions of music through games, movement and playing.
