Year 4 – Stibbington Residential

Year 4 have just returned from another year’s pair of successful visits. As soon as we arrived we embarked on a full programme of activities. We started off by doing an eco-trail around the ground which helped to orientate us around the centre. In the afternoon we visited the nature reserve, looking for signs of spring. You wouldn’t believe the number of creatures we found when we were pond dipping! In March!

Our second day saw us being Roman’s. We learnt about their armour, how the soldiers lived, we investigated Roman food, made tiles using Roman designs and learnt to march and create Roman battle formations. We were a fierce lot!

Our final day stretched our knowledge of co-ordinates as we followed a treasure trail, around the village of Stibbington. We finally found our treasure hidden in the village church!

In the evenings we had a camp fire, told stories and jokes and gave each other riddles to work out. We had a review session where we talked about what happened in the day and what we had learnt. Bedroom points were given out for our competition.

We had a fabulous time at Stibbington, the children were so well-behaved and polite, they were a pleasure to take away and be with. You can follow our adventures on our school twitter page.

A very large thank you to all the staff who accompanied me with the children, it really was a team effort, well done everyone.
